A Photo A Day … October 11 2013

A few days ago, Penny – from The Why About This – posted a photo of forks. I had never thought of creating art out of something like that. I said to Penny that I would start to try similar things in the coming months, and as my pain levels are high today, I thought I would give it a go and start with the forks.

I laid the forks onto the top of reflective silver take-out lids and set the camera onto four second shutter speed. I stood a second reflective lid on the side to stop any colours reflecting back. Then I held a third reflective lid above the forks, pressed the remote for the shutter and used the external flash on weak twice.

A Photo A Day … July 07 2013

I did try and capture a droplet of water coming out of the water after bouncing it, but I couldn’t get it to work properly. So I decided to see if I could capture something else, and dragged my hand out of the water as the shutter went off.

A Photo A Day … June 28 2013

My flashes have arrived. My remotes have arrived. So I was having a play with them and managed to set one off straight into my eyes. THAT took a while ease off. Anyway, I decided to have a go at a project that I had been thinking about doing for a while. I showed the photo to my daughter and she said “yes you’ve shown me before” so I pointed to the corner of the room. I know I have to do work with it to remove the reflections. I’ll get there though.

A Photo A Day … March 24 2013

I brought a magazine the other day, and I had a look at the projects in it. One of them was to photograph smoke from an incense stick. It took a while to set the lighting right and the background. It was alright, but the result could have been better.
