With the invention of the auto-mobile, Derrin knew an imminent change in his life was guaranteed. His interference would alter the way humanity evolved. He smiled at the thought, knowing that his actions today made this possible. He glanced at the time machine and the body of Karl Benz in the corner. He knew he had to return to his own time before his great-great-great-great-grandfather came home.

He hid the body and activated his return journey.

Stepping out of his room, he started to fade. His memory altered as he disappeared; his final memory was his ancestor’s execution for murder.
