Friday Fictioneers: Meetings and Musings

Every week on a Wednesday, Rochelle hosts Friday Fictioneers. This is where people join together and write fiction, true life, poetry based using an image as a prompt that has been offered to Rochelle. It is a fun challenge. If you would like to have a go, then pop over to her blog and peruse the rules.

My story is part of an ongoing one that is taken from two different angles. It is a story of a vampire chasing his prey. My angle is that of the vampire – Raynard, and Jules takes the side of his prey – Saskia. You can find the full story at the top of the page under Fiction –> Friday Fictioneers –> Alastair and Jules.

Raynard has been chasing Saskia across the country to Oologah, Oklahoma. Powerful magic has destroyed the talisman Raynard had been using to track his prey. Unbeknownst to them, he already had a secondary form of tracking on her.

Upon reaching Oologah, Raynard found a disused building to park the BeastBike in. He found a payphone, called one of his “special favours”, and arranged meeting.

When night fell the following night, he and Tess walked to just outside of town to a nursery with a massive model of a wasp outside. Telling Tess to stay put, he met with his contact.

Meanwhile, Tess mulled over everything she had witnessed since the attack. More and more made no sense – Raynard’s contradictions; his timings; his eyes; his temper. She did not notice her eyes turning black as she realised the truth.

Friday Fictioneers: Night Travels

Every week, the lovely Rochelle digs out a photo that she then gives us a prompt to create a 100(ish) word story with. The photo comes from a variety of sources and always creates some magnificent tales.

My story is the continuation of one that has been going on for several weeks. It involves two sides. One is that of a vampire – Raynard, and the other is that of a woman he is chasing – Saskia. She looks like the person who created him as a vampire and so wants to make sure she suffers. In previous chapters, a bone has been mentioned. This bone was one of Moria – his “sire” – and it can be used to track Saskia. He is currently chasing her with his protégé, Tess. He has convinced Tess that it is Saskia who is evil, and by capturing her will end their vampirism.

You can find the story so far here, and Jules’ story for this week here.

Night Travels

The journey to Oologah took many days over large open space. During these nights, they rode at maximum speed to travel as far as possible before daybreak. When the dawn came, they dismounted and hid the bike, then dug holes for protection from the sun. Raynard made sure he lay atop Tess to stop her destroying herself.

Several days into the journey, took them over a mountain. Tess squealed as Raynard’s pouch moved. Stopping the bike, he checked, and Moria’s bone was nothing but ash … Tess saw blackness in Raynard’s eyes that chilled her to the core. She began to doubt his story.
