Another Sad Passing

One of the legendary horror writers has died today aged 69.

James Herbert, most famous for his Rats Trilogy – Rats, Lair and Domain, died today in his home in Sussex.

Four of his books were made into films – Rats, Survivor, Fluke and Haunted with The Secret of Crickley Hall being made into a mini series last year.

His final book, Ash was published last week.

R.I.P. James Herbert.

Daily Prompt: Erasure

You have the choice to erase one incident from your past, as though it never happened. What would you erase and why?

This for me is very easy. In 1991, we had close to hurricane force winds for the second time in four years. I was standing in a doorway chatting with someone I used to work with. I heard a creak and looked over the road. I watched a chimney lose it’s hold and fall. I watched it drop and rip through awnings. There was a couple walking – well – struggling to walk. I don’t think I need to say any more, but it is something I wish I had never seen. The woman didn’t survive.

Sad News

It is a sad day in the UK today. A long running program that used to be on over here was Grandstand. One of the commentators on that went on to be the voice for all of the Olympics – Winter and Summer for the last forty years, including 2012. He also covered every World Cup from 1974 – 2006. He then went on to be the voice of ITV’s Dancing on Ice when it started in 2006. Today he died after a short illness. The day after the latest series of Dancing on Ice finished.
