Tattoo

After my last post, I mentioned that I had a tattoo of the Clan Forbes on my arm. I had this done in 2009. My my mum, sister and I paid for my dad to have the tattoo for his 70th birthday (his first one), as it was my sister’s 40th birthday a couple of months after, I paid for her to have it done.

  1. So, how about posting a photo of the Clan Forbes tat.
My Pastor is an exceptional artist and has his own tattoo equipment. I’ve seen some of the work he does, and it’s amazing. I’m thinking of getting myself a butterfly tattoo for my birthday next year…just for shock value it would cause when I tell my friends, “I have a tattoo” LOL sort of like the TV advert…”I bought a jeep” 😀

    • I have four. Each with a specific meaning. I’m not one of these that walks into a tattooist without an idea of what I want. I want another one, but I have no thoughts on what I want yet. I won’t look in their folders and say “I like that tribal, I’ll have that.”

      • Yeah, that’s the way to get into trouble, by getting something deeply significant that you don’t know the significance of. If you know what you want before you go there, you won’t regret it later.

        • Exactly. With the one on my back, I asked four tattooists to come up with the design, and went with the one that I liked the best. Took about three months for it

  2. That’s impressive, Alastair! There’s nothing wrong with expressing one’s ethnic or family pride. I have a tattoo on my left upper arm of the state of Texas; it’s homage to my paternal side in that we were among the first European settlers in the region + our Indian ancestors were here long before that.

    • And he reacted like he had loads. But there again, was he going to wince in front of his two kids that already had several tattoos each? hehe
