Everybody Has A Reason

Every single person on this planet is here for a reason. It may be years before we know what it is. It could be that someone is here purely to reproduce. Maybe have a certain amount of children and then stop. It could be that someone is put on this planet so that another person can be born and that other person is the reason. It could be that the reason Grace Stirling Morton was put on this planet was so that Alexander Fleming could be born. Your children may be the reason you were put on this planet. However, you will still have some other reason for being here.

It could be that your neighbour was put on this planet to stop you doing something. Have they asked you to do something? Maybe if you hadn’t done it, something bad would have happened to you. If someone has died, it could be that their reason is now over, and they will be needed elsewhere at another time.

It may be that your reason for being here is so that you can save someone’s life just by talking to them. Maybe someone is destined to not have permanent love in their life, but to show other people that they can be loved. Maybe this person loves someone who think they are unlovable and proves that they can be. Then for whatever reason this love is broken off .. maybe they are too far away and can never be in each other’s arms but this person knows that they have opened to other person’s eyes to the fact that they are able to be loved, and as such this other person finds someone else who can be with them.

Maybe someone is to reproduce with someone and then they go their separate ways with one finding love elsewhere with the original person happy with the fact that they have brought life into the world. Or maybe someone moves in with a partner to show what they miss being alone, then they split so the other person tries to find someone else so as not to be alone, or to show the other person’s children what it is like to have two parents.

It could be that someone is to introduce two people who would never have met without this person. These people are married and live a happy life together.

Someone’s reason is to become a doctor and save someone’s life who goes on to become the next Prime Minister or President or General who stops a war.

Either way, we each have a reason. That knowledge can make all the difference. As you go about your daily business today, know that there is a reason you are alive. If your reason is just to make people know that they can be loved, then you should be happy knowing that you have made a difference to someone else’s life.

Everybody makes a difference.

  1. Yep, we are all here for something and it’s best to honor it and go with the flow;even if others never figure it out. It’s all for our growth. -)

    • It is. Sometimes our reason is so subtle that we don’t even notice we do it. Have you ever just said hello to an old lady, or remarked about the weather to her? That could have made her the happiest person in the world and you would never have known it.

Maybe you fed a bird, and that bird flew off and someone saw it, then they stopped to look which causes someone else to walk around them meaning they were two seconds late which caused them them to go to do something, but someone stops them because it could have maimed or killed them. And all because you stopped to feed a bird.

  2. I think this is so true, and “just” to love and spread joy is a noble existence. In the end, I really believe we all remember when someone made us feel special and loved. Very nice post.

  3. very thought provoking….. thankyou! do you ever get into that thing where you think ‘now if I hadn’t met my partner but I’d gone with that other person, I would be living in such and such a place and my children wouldn’t be my children, wouldn’t even exist….’ and so on and so forth…. anyhow this 3D existence surely is a miracle.

My friend’s much loved family dog died recently. Everyone was crying. Her little boy (aged 5) said ‘he doesn’t need to be here anymore because he has shown us what love is.’…. ok, so the parents are hippies like me, but I was a bit blown away by that story!

    • Well, I’m not with my partner any more she traded me in fir a younger model five years ago 😉

I get what you mean though. As for that little boy … WOW

      • oh dear sorry about the trade in thing. But that will all be for a reason…. which will be unfolding…. and also my Buddhist Teacher says that it is up to us to create our own meaning. I think this is true…..

        • That is true. I don’t begrudge him … my mother always told me to give my used toys to the less fortunate 😉

I am in a better place since then, and the main thing is, I kept my kids 🙂

  4. I love this post! Well, if we want to find our “destiny”, the reason why we came to this life, we have to think outside of the box. What we really want, not what the society, family and friends want for us. We do know deep inside what’s the best for us!

  5. Very interesting thoughts Alastair. We are all making a difference, it could be with the blog, other things we reach out. Certainly with love and kindness we all make a big difference to others in this world.

    • Yes we do Ute. A nice word can make a huge difference. Just smiling at someone .. I was about to use a phrase I have used before – just smiling at someone could save their life.
