You Never Truly Win

I wrote this as a reply on a comment on Jasmine Kyle’s blog, and it’s one of those things you say that comes out far better than you expect it to.

You can never win

    • I believe you will Roxi, You’re strong, and you fight. You haven’t given up, so you have already started winning. The first part of winning comes when you think “I will win, I will beat you” At that point, your mind, your soul, your sense of self are prepared to win and to fight to win. Just by saying that, you are on the road to victory.

You smile, you laugh, you have joy in your heart Roxi, you are at that point where you are “close” to winning. I don’t mean you are about to win, because there is only won way you can win the life race and that’s by finishing. Which is what my quote refers to. All other wins – the race for a job, the challenge of parenting, beating disease – they are “close wins” They are the best you can do without crossing the finish line.

      • Sweet Alastair, thank you so much for the clarification of what the intended message was in your quote. Had me worried there for a second. Thanks for being part of my journey my friend.

  1. I just posted a really long comment in reply to that and I don’t think it posted, so in summary. Nicely put, Alastair, but it’s not just the winning that counts is it? It is also about the taking part ????

    • That’s true. 🙂 The human race, where there truly is only one way to win. I checked the spam folder, and the only thing in there was a lump of spam 😦
