I was looking on YouTube for a track that I heard today and thought I would use it for my music of the day. Then I glanced at the side bar and it suggested one that I also, so I started playing the official video to see what it was like and saw the side bar again, and this time I went cold There was a track that I loved when it hit number one in 1974. I remember I always used to do the actions, I used to march, I used to wear a hat that I would throw down and even at the age of seven, the song would make me cry. The only thing I couldn’t do was whistle. (I still can’t properly now 😆 )So I knew I had to use it today. I am in an incredible amount of pain – more then I have for a long time. Thankfully my son helped me with dinner tonight even though he is not well himself. My daughter offered to do the washing up afterwards. I have a pair of wonderful kids. Even if they are teenagers 😉
Back to this track. This was from 1974 and a Nottingham based group that had two hits in the UK and only this one in the US. The song is about a young man who joins the army in the American Civil War even though his fiancé didn’t want him to. She wanted him to stay and marry her. The song is extremely sad and I remember watching this particular video on TV in black and white. I haven’t watched this yet, I hoping I don’t end up with wet cheeks again.
