Daily Prompt: When you were 16, what did you think your life would look like? Does it look like that? Is that a good thing?
When I was sixteen I had left school, and I was glad to have done so. As far as I was concerned, that was a horror that was behind me. I was hanging around with a neighbour and smoking (I had actually started years before, but that’s beside the point). I had a job, and as far as I was concerned, my life was set. I liked what I was doing. It was a small company and I felt I could stay there for a long time. But I had three jobs when I was sixteen. I hadn’t raised my façade at that point, so I was still naive and vulnerable. I did start going out with a girl. My first girlfriend. Wow that was amazing. However that only lasted a couple of months.
I looked to the future and saw myself as a successful person with a good family and loads of friends. I saw myself as being invited to parties and living in a huge posh house.
Yeah, like that worked out. LOL

At 16, we think we own the world! Back then…maybe we did 🙂
I believe we did. We knew what we were going to do, and we knew we could do it. Just a shame that as soon as we got out of our teens, reality hits

At 16, I was so smart! I knew EVERYTHING..then something must of happened (haha, won’t go into that now) and then bam! Here I am groping in the dark, but the light is at the end of the tunnet…
Great post…loved it!
Thank you. I remember I saw a sign once in a pub … “If you think our barmaids are beautiful … don’t drive home!!” … no that wasn’t the one. “Hire a teenager while they still know everything”
😀 😀

With 16 I was still in school and really cannot remember much else. I did dance lessons, but wasn’t yet into boys…haha I was a late bloomer….:-)So not much excitement in my life there.
LOL. They’re the ones to watch 😉
Haha, yes exactly , I have totally changed….
LOL. Party night every night, or every other night now then 😉
haha not quite, exercise 3 times a week , fun bit once a week….. at my age haha, couldn’t handle it party every night, but I had a swell time in London when I was 23…when I came over…. single , free and the world was my Oyster….. ( well after the initial months of homesickness) Live and let live….oh I do enjoy life now too!
Brilliant. I put my façade in place when I was about 20 and that’s when I hit the drugs etc. That’s all gone now.
Never did any of that, never smoked, but enjoyed life and was happy! Glad you grown out if it!
Me too. No alcohol, no drugs, no smoking no nothing. Just me and my kids 🙂
Nice and siimple that is the way to go! 🙂
Yup, that’s me – simple LOL
🙂
At 16 I was in school and loving every bit of my life, well almost, minus the stepmother and pop (late) 🙂
Yeah you can’t leave at 16 over here any more. It’s 18 now.
your youthful exuberance explodes out of that picture–and the rabbit ears are priceless. () ()
Oh the things we do in our youth 😀
Gosh – I was relieved to leave HS too. Long story short – I was never picked on or bullied – I had lots of people that I talked to & talked to me – I just felt like I didn’t belong.
Anywho – You may not be where you thought you would be – but – you’re still AWESOME!
Thank you Rosy 🙂
It took me years to realize that my thoughts, actions, wishes, desires and heartaches (and acne) weren’t any different or worse than all the others.
When we are sixteen, we are generally selfish and think the world owes us everything.
If I was 16 and a girl I would have fancied you, but I’m not 16 and not a girl so I don’t fancy you 😉
LMAO
At sixteen, life is wonderful! No worries, no problems … primary was fun!
Everything was seen through the eyes of innocent for future! Everything was easy!
But later … contariul discover …
Warm wishes, Alastair! 🙂
At sixteen, I was glad to be out of school. 🙂
And I was in school the age sixteen years!
And even more sixteen years I was at school!
But my responsibility was only one, school and invatarura!
At sixteen years old should not think of social or economic problems!
It was great! :)))
I was 16 in 1983, so I actually left school at the age of 15
I’m really glad I didn’t turn out the way I expected to at 16. What did I know then? There are definitely blessings in the life lessons that come our way, right? RIGHT?
You can come to my party. Bring the tacos. And the chips.
Cool 😀
I know there are some parts of my life that I regret and detest, but I wouldn’t change it as it is what me who I am. I’ll be round in an hour 🙂
