A Photo A Day … January 16 2013

It snowed today. So I thought I would take a few photos of the snow. I took a couple of macro ones as well, and … well, they weren’t brilliant but this one was the best of the macros. I’ve really got to work on them. This time it had nothing to do with the heat or anything like that as this was immediately outside my front door. Just down to my inexperience with macros.

    • Thanks Rachel. It was the best of them all. although I’m still not overly happy with it. I think maybe I should have used a lesser macro lens. May have the opportunity to try tomorrow šŸ™‚

  1. Very beautiful picture! Sounds like a brilliant crystal embroidery! Thank you for sharing!
Have a wonderful evening, Alastair and many blessings! šŸ™‚

  2. I’m so jealous! It snowed in the UK, it snowed in Berlin, it snowed in the US Northeast. I want one more snow so I can practice what I learned in my photography class on Monday night! šŸ™‚

      • The biggest things were:
        1) Getting my sorry self out of shooting in auto. It just FINALLY clicked this time in my little, blonde head.
        2) (and here’s where the snow enters stage left) How to override middle grey by spot centering so that snow is white and blacks are blacks and not the middle grey average of the whole frame.

I’m also taking an online class this year that meets once a month online. It starts today. I’m SOOOOO excited!
