This track was originally written in 1959 and released by Ray Peterson. It hit the Billboard Top 100 and rose as far as number 25. It was released the same year by Ronnie Hilton in the UK and reached number 22 in the UK Singles Chart. The Platters recorded this in the sixties. This version was released in 1970 and rose to number 9 in the Billboard Top 100, but in the UK it hit the number one slot and stayed there for six weeks. This was the 59th top 40 hit for this singer, and is one he would only play live, never recording it in a studio. The artist asked the original singer if he could sing it, and the conversation went:
Do you mind if I record The Wonder of You?
You don’t have to ask permission, you’re Elvis Presley
Yes I do, you’re Ray Peterson
I am not a fan of Elvis Presley, but today would have been his birthday., so this is in honour of him. You already know what the track is.

My husband is a huge fan but I’m like you Alastair, not so much so. I will acknowledge his wonderful voice and talent. π

Great song and – fan or not – a great voice singing it!
Thank you, Alastair – and Happy Birthday Elvis! π
You’re welcome. When I did John Lennon’s for the anniversary of his death, I didn’t know what to choose for him as I don’t like the Beatles either LOL
But yes, he did have a good voice
Hee hee!
As a true fan of music you may step beyond the border of like and dislike at times. And you are doing it very nicely, too! π
Thank you π
