Music: October 20 2012

This was one of the first singles I brought. For those who don’t know what I mean, a single was a vinyl record that used to be played on a record player and there were several speeds depending on the age of the deck. You had 16 which were for records made in the 30’s-50’s, 33 was for LP’s – or Long Play – albums. 45 which was for singles and EP’s – Extended Play – mini album. And some had 78 which was for records created from 20’s-60’s. It would be fun sometimes to play records on the different speeds to make them sound squeaky or manly. My favourites for doing that was Rick Astley and Kylie Minogue. Play a 33 Astley on 45 and he sounds like Kylie, play a 45 Kylie on 33 and you’ve got Astley ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway … Joan Jett & the BlackheartsI love Rock n Roll

  1. I think there should be a “Love” button next to the “Like” button.
    I. LOVE. THIS. SONG.
And Rock and Roll. Duhhhhh. Haha

  2. That was a great song – haven’t heard it in a long time! I used to play records at different speeds too… not a lot, just occasionally, just for fun… sometimes they sounded better that way!

  3. The kids of today do not know what they are missing out on with Vinyls!! And I always loved this song!!

    • I know, it’s mad. I went into a charity shop the other day and had to explain to my daughter what a record player was. She looked quite confused as to how it would work. LOL.
