A Photo A Day … October 17 2012

I took my daughter to the Orthodontist today to have her braces tightened so that they can yank her teeth back onto place and make them even. As we were heading there, I noticed a ladybug on a leaf. After attempting to take a shot with my iPhone, I took out my Nikon D3000 and had a look, but then had to add a macro lens to take a semi decent shot. I would have preferred a clearer shot, but the wind is still pretty strong today and the leaf was blowing, so I am happy with the result.

  1. I love ladybugs and you did an excellent job of capturing it. It appears to be spiraling down into the depths of the plant. Great shot! 🙂

  2. I noticed a ladybird on one of my daylillies yesterday. But already had an awesome shot from earlier lol. Alas no macro yet, I cheated and cropped. They are spectacular with the colour contrasts 🙂

    • I didn’t know they were still out at this time of year, so I had to snap it. Plus the amount of spots on it. My daughter doesn’t like them so she was pressed as far up against a nearby wall as was possible lol.
Cropping works 🙂 That’s what I did with my seagull a couple of days ago 😉 Macros are wonderful though. I managed to buy a pack of 28 lenses for about £30 that includes a +1+2+4 Macro plus many other (never to be used) lenses
