I know I have been playing with shutter speeds lately, and tonight I had my first go at photographing stars, but that didn’t come out too well, and I need to see if I can set my timer for longer than 30 seconds as I think I may get an alright shot from that.
Today though, I decided to take a 15 second shot of a ferry leaving the docks.

Nice
Thank you Celestine

Thanks Christina π I like the fact that it makes it look like it is going really fast
me likes this one alot
Thank you π
Cool – I want to learn how to do that!
With the DSLR – or Bridge camera, there is an option “S” which is for Shutter. If you dial it one way, it opens the shutter for a longer period. Usually shown with quotes – ” and goes 1.2, 1.4, 1.7, 3, 5 etc. So if it says 30″ then that means it is open for 30 seconds. The other way, it goes in fractions so 1/4000 means it is open for 1/4000 of a second which is good for capturing water splashing or birds flying, but doesn’t let in a lot of light. As a result you need either bright daylight or a good flash.
Ooooooooh – I’ll have to try that. I just keep my camera on auto (I know…bad) & make adjustments if needed on my computer. I’m scrrrrd to leave the auto feature. I will talk to my imaginary therapist at my next appt on how to overcome this fear.
LOL. If you do decided to go for it, you need to have the camera on something stationary. I have mine on a tripod, set it for a delay or use my remote.
Ok – Will do. I know we have a tripod here somewhere.
