I had avoided Moulin Rouge as it did not seem my type of film. There was no action, there was no planes, trains, cranes, drains or brains blowing up. There were no zombies, boat chases, car chases, cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, aliens or dinosaurs (on a spaceship???).
I was told that it was, surprisingly, a good film. So I brought. It arrived yesterday and I watched it today (the credits are rolling as I am typing this). It is set in 1899, but the music … the way the music has been incorporated is magnificent!! You have music created or originally performed by Ozzy Osbourne, (my favourite little pixie) Kylie Minogue, Rogers and Hammerstein, Madonna, Nirvana, Fatboy Slim, Marilyn Monroe, Elton John, Randy Crawford, John Lennon, Sting, Dolly Parton, Queen and more. It is brilliantly put together and a fantastic love story.
If you haven’t watched it already, I would definitely suggest it. It was suggested to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This film is about truth, beauty, freedom, but above all – love
I still have to watch this!! So glad you enjoyed it.
It’s definitely a film I could watch again and again. Well worth it 🙂
It’s been a movie that I’ve loved for a long time; a really great film!
Yes it is. I’m glad I got talked into watching it
Yes definitely about love, it’s also about amazing creativity, which I think the move conveys via it’s music, acting, choreography, settings, etc! I am very glad you enjoy this movie Alastair! 🙂
It was brilliant. I’m glad I was talked into buying it 🙂
The writer’s creativity on the spur of the moment was ingenious. How they use the music from now and put it into 1899 was brilliant.
I agree! 🙂
Will have to add it to my queue!
It’s definitely worth it 🙂
It’s one I will watch again
“Come what may” interpreted by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman is a beautiful song.I listen to it with pleasure every time.
So true. Definitely one to sing along to.
