Okay, so I brought a couple of photography books the other day and decided to have a read through them. One of them gave a project that was to recreate a “goblet of fire”. It required a camera capable of setting slow speeds, a flash gun, a goblet of water, white background and some food dye. You then take a photo of the food dye being poured into the glass, use a program to invert the colours and should give you the image.
I don’t have a flash gun, so I made do with a lamp, and I took the photo in the day time with the reflection of the sun coming in behind me. It’s not brilliant, but for a first attempt, I am more than happy with this creation.

wow! I love the door you see there reflected too. drink me–and go!! So Alice!! Super!! (not grail at all!! after all 😉
Thanks Karen. It was the first project I did, and I had barely anyone reading my blog then. So I am going to do it again, but properly this time. I have external flashes and a room where I will have no reflections as my bedroom has wooden shutters (HAHAHA … I spelled shutters wrong 😆 )
Freudian!! you are shuddering at the thought of the evil potion you are going to conjure–but you’ll do it. That’s the Raynard in you…;)
MWAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, got my teeth in wrong 😉
ghoulish…postively ghoulish…
I resemble that remark. When I was younger, i used to be called “The Grim Reaper” hehe. Mind you, that stopped when I ran to the aid of people in an accident.
That is a very cool effect. 🙂
Thank you David. That took me by surprise seeing a comment on a post that old LOL
🙂 Thanks for linking it in your comment on Chosen Voice.
Eventually. It kept going into the spam folder lol
I don’t know how they determine that. They’re usually pretty good, but they put a few of my own comments in the spam folder, as if I would spam myself.
I had that the other day. Also I have one person who’s comments keep ending up in there. Very annoying.
I wonder if there’s a way to tag them as always “not spam”. I don’t know if there is, but there should be.
Yeah there should. It’s odd as a spam got through today. I think over the next few days I’ll go through Askimet and see what I can do, I will post my findings in a post
Cool, thanks.
Oh my goodness! This is so beautiful!

Thanks Naima. It was a case of dropping food colour into it and catching the photo at the right time. I have more equipment since I took those so I will be trying again in the near future. Will try to get them without the reflections
I am waiting eagerly! Always the fan of incredible photographers around!

🙂
AWESOME! I want to see better versions of this soon!
I still will do the better versions .. I promise. Now I have got better and actually have a reflector now
Definitely proud of you here, this turned out amazingly. I love the colors and everything. Grade A work for sure!

Thanks. I almost jumped around the room when I saw the result 🙂 I think I’ll post the original too
Yeah thats definitely a good idea 🙂
Will do it later when the sun goes down. Going to use different food colours, see what effects I can get.
Nice 😀 I can’t wait to see them 🙂 I’m currently working on adding pictures to all of my “About Me” list items 😛 Big project, but it’s going fantasticly so far!
