Kids and stuff

With it being the easter holidays, there isn’t really a lot of time to spend doing things with the kids as they get the chance to go to their mum’s during the weekdays rather than just the weekend, and can spend a bit more time there with her as well as their friends that live in that area.

One thing I did want to do was take them to Dover Castle as we live about 100 meters away from it. Although that is what it looks like on the map, trying to walk that 100 metres is impossible. We stood on Admiralty Lookout and looked at the top of our house just beneath us which was very odd. We went for a walk around the town and headed towards the Officer’s Mess in the centre of the grounds where we met one of the people who work there. I had a chat with him about the building and asked if it was going to open again, and he said that it would cost approximately £7.5m to do that one up as it is just an empty shell with no floors. Richard Branson apparently offered to do it up if he could use it for a hospitality suite, and the English Heritage effectively showed him the middle finger which i am glad about as it would detract from the whole feel of the castle. It would be like putting a bouncy castle in the Tower of London. When we got into the castle proper – and it took me a hell of a long time to get up the steps to the top. I think I had to stop five or six times as I was in agony, but I figured it would be better to get to the top ad work our way down. They have holograms in the castle now, it is fantastic! Plus they have replicas of all the furniture that would have been in there at that time, and they are still doing it up. The wartime tunnels are closed at the moment as they are refurbishing them, but my daughter didn’t relish the thought of going down there anyway, last time she did it made her feel sick. We had a thoroughly good day out.

On a different note, this Saturday sees the return of Police clad stripogram and her bow-tie adorned side kick and her husband as they float around in time and space putting right what once went wrong and hoping each slide would be the slide home. Although I won’t be watching Dr Who on Saturday as my kids are at their mum’s again then, and that is a program that we sit down and watch together. We have several that we do that with at the moment. With the three of us, we are currently watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 2, Fringe season 1 and Torchwood season 2. With just me and my daughter, we have CSI and CSI NY as well as Tru Calling although the latter we haven’t watched for a couple of months.

Have fun … til next time
